The concept of our souls being weighed upon death is prevalent within many cultures, not only today but spanning into the past for millennium. We may acknowledge this concept as a universal truth, an archetypal concept which resonates through the universe as law. The interpretation of this universal law however varies and often times lends itself to an aggressive lean to the extreme. I think it is far more simple and divine to consider not being weighed by a litany of “sins” or by each and every individual action we take within a particular lifetime but by something far more fundamental.
Perhaps the only weight upon which the scales are subsequently determined directly depends on whether we have advanced our own spirits, and thereby humanity as whole, within our individual lifetimes. That our spirits have taken those next steps in individual refinement. Or instead have we ignored them and chosen to pursue something more mundane? An intentional divergence from our individual life destiny.
The question of why we are here is often presented as this enigmatic concept, this unanswerable question. I present the following: We are here to advance our spirits into higher realms of consciousness and existence; to ignore this noble goal is the only “sin”.
This in mind, if we are to be weighed upon the scales of judgment, let us not consider our litany of so-called “sins” and each individual action. Instead, entertain introspection and knowledge of thyself. Have you taken the time and effort to advance your spirit; have you followed that inner-voice to fulfill your individual destiny within this lifespan?
My proposal is that the scales of judgment are based upon these decisions and are as simple and Boolean as such:
- Have you taken steps to advance your spirit and the benefit of all mankind?
- Have you instead failed to take these steps, but also not regressed in your spiritual journey? Your spirit is no more refined or less refined than when it started at the beginning of your current lifespan.
- Have you made decisions and ignored your inner voice, which in turn resulted in subsequent steps taken to degrade or regress your spiritual journey?
Based upon these variables, and their outcomes, the scales are weighed accordingly. Respectively, for each variable above:
- The scales are weighed in the positive aspect, your spirit has become more refined and pure through your spiritual and physical journey in a particular lifespan. Your spirit will therefore reside in higher realms of refinement than those in the past. The spirit shall also in turn have a different set of life goals in the next lifespan to further refine and hone the spirit.
- The scales are equivalent; they are neither weighted to the negative or the positive aspect, but rather remain the same. The spirit has not grown in this lifespan but neither has it regressed in it’s spiritual journey. Life goals and lessons in the next life span will likely be directly the same or in parallel to those in the previous past life. Your spirit will reside in the same realm as within which it resided during previous lifetimes and periods of rebirth, with no true growth made. Spiritual goals, and those “crucibles of the soul” will remain the same.
- Scales are weighed in the negative aspect; your spirit has become less refined and pure through your physical journey in life. You have chosen to make decisions that focus on degradation of the spirit and the overall detriment of human consciousness. The spirit has degraded in this lifetime and upon death will reside in lower, less refined states of consciousness. Life goals in the next life will likely be similar to journeys already taken and conquered but must be repeated to bring the spirit back to the same state in which it existed prior to lifetimes which manifested this regression of the soul.
Perhaps, somewhere herein lies truth.
